The Willingboro Emergency Squad celebrated it's 52nd Year with a Awards dinner and dance on April 28, 2012 at the Kove Caterers in Edgewater Park.
Current and life members, along with Township officials and representatives from surrounding departments enjoyed the evening of celebration.
The program started with a moment of reflection of members who passed in the last year, including two members, Lizzie Morris and Mary Beerhalter who served the organization up to their passing.
Many awards were presented during the eventing including a special presentation to
Past Chief David Nelinson for his service as EMS Chief.
EMT's Scott Boaten, Joel Batista, Brendan Stringfellow, Kirk Holmes and Tom Benfield, along with Police Officer EMT John Michener and the Willingboro Fire Department received a unit citation for their performance at a motor vehicle accident in July of 2011.
EMT's Scott Boaten, Ken Gasser Sr and Kirk Holmes received "Stork" pins for their assistance in deliverer a baby boy in December 2011.
A special presentation was made to President Denise Nelinson for her 25 years of service and past 4 years as President of the organization.
Members who reached milestone years of service are:
5 years: Sherry Estelow and Amanda Smith
15 Years: Mark Robertson, Sr
20 Years: Melanie Henenssee and Jane Spencer
25 Years: David Nelinson, Denise Nelinson and Joseph Stringfellow
40 Years: Olive Warne and Jane Litig
EMT Kirk Holmes received the Member of the Year Award and EMT Mary Gasser received the President's Award.
The Willingboro Emergency Squad is the volunteer component of the Willingboro Township Emergency Medical Services.
The Emergency Squad provides volunteer emergency medical service opportunities and community training. Those interested in joining may call 609-871-4357.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Willingboro Emergency Squad shall partner with the Willingboro Township Department of Emergency Medical Services to provide twenty-four hour response to the injured and ill, to provide first aid and basic life support required to transport those in need of more advanced treatment to an approved and capable facility. It shall also be the mission of the Willingboro Emergency Squad to promote safety, to provide training in first aid, to provide or assist in projects to promote a healthier way of life and to create good fellowship among members of the Organization and its local communities.
VISION
The Willingboro Emergency Squad is comprised of motivated, dedicated and trained professionals providing exceptional emergency medical care for residents and visitors of the municipalities it serves both primarily and secondarily.
